Sie hatten sich das ja anders vorgestellt. Sie wollten ja gar nicht. Aber irgendwann gibt man halt nach.Also war man dann hier und da blieb nur: Zähne zusammenbeissen und eine saubere Landung abliefern. Alles weitere kommt dann. Eins war aber sicher: NIE wieder Fallschirmspringen.

Wenn man Dinge plastisch erscheinen lassen will, kommt man um Licht und Schatten nicht herum. Dabei gilt: Je mehr man die Extreme betont (Schlaglichtwirkung), desto plastischer, und irgendwann unwirklicher wird die Darstellung. Man sollte durchaus mit extremer Vereinfachung anfangen (Tipp: Grisaille malen, das trainiert den Blick auf die wesentlichen Licht und Schattenverhältnisse), abmildern kann man das dann ja immer noch.

If things are meant to appear three-dimensional and plastically, you can´t avoid dealing with light and shadow. That means the more emphasis on the extreme light and the extreme dark, the more plastic, and in the end, unrealistic things will appear. Still one should start with extreme simplification of light and shadow (tip: paint grisaille, it trains the eye to focus on the essential lights and shadows), watering it down is always possible later.
