Im Prinzip gilt Ockhams Rasiermesser: Wenn es einen einfachen und einen nicht so einfachen Weg gibt, das gleiche zu sagen, so ist der einfachere Weg vorzuziehen.
Im Prinzip.
Denn einmal ändern sich in der Malerei die Aussagemöglichkeiten, wenn man kompositorisch etwas ändert (es gibt also nicht zwei Arten, das gleiche zu sagen!), es ist wie ein Mobile, ändere ein Teil, so änderst du alle.
Und außerdem kann der kompliziertere Weg der gefühlt bessere sein. Und da hören die Diskussionen auf, wie ein Luftballon, aus dem die Luft entweicht.
Ich finde einfacher aber trotzdem meistens schöner.

Generally ockham´s razor applies: When there is a simple and a not so simple way to express the same thing, the simpler is to be preferred.

Because firstly possibillities fo expression change if kompositionally something is changed (that means: there are no two ways to say the same thing!), it´s like a mobile. Change one part, you change all parts.
Aside from that the more complicated way can be the felt better one. And that´s where all discussions end, like a ballon whose air is leaking.
Nevertheless,I like the simpler better, mostly.
